Understanding the Notification Log

Each Message Flow in eADM a dedicated Log tab that records every notification sent from that flow, including those sent manually. This log is essential for auditing and troubleshooting.

To access the log, open the relevant Message Flow and select the Log tab. The log displays four key pieces of information for each entry:

  • Recipient: The person to whom the notification was sent.

  • Result: The delivery status (e.g., OK or an error).

  • Object: The user account to which the notification refers.

  • Timestamp: The date and time the notification was sent.

Interpreting "Recipient" vs. "Object"

The distinction between the recipient and the object is important for understanding who received the message and why.

Example 1: Notification to a Manager

In workflows that notify a manager about an employee, the Recipient and Object will be different.

  • The Recipient is the manager who receives the alert.

  • The Object is the employee whose account triggered the notification (e.g., due to a change in their employment status).

Example 2: Notice to an Employee

In workflows that send a message directly to an employee, the Recipient and the Object will be the same person.

Troubleshooting Using the Log

The "Result " column is essential for identifying delivery issues. It indicates whether a notification was sent successfully or failed. If a failure occurs, it often displays a specific error message.

For example, a message might fail if the system cannot find a required value. In the example below, the SMS could not be sent because the user's profile was missing a phone number in the privatePhone field.
