Updating User Data in eADM eFeide

This article explains the correct procedure for updating user information, such as a name, phone number, email address, or username.

In Identum's systems, user data is primarily managed from a central, authoritative master data source to ensure data quality and security. For most users, this means you cannot change your profile information directly within the eADM eFeide interfaces.

However, there is a specific exception for eADM , who can override data received from the source system.

How Data is Managed

Our platforms adhere to the principle of a Single Source of Truth (SSOT). This means that for any piece of user data, there is one primary system that is responsible for its accuracy. eADM eFeide synchronize data from these primary systems.

  • For eADM, the source system is your organization's Human Resources Management (HRM) system.

  • For eFeide, the source system is your school's Student Information System (SIS).

This design ensures that your information is consistent across all integrated platforms and prevents data conflicts.

Note: While SSOT is the guiding principle, eADM designated administrators to manually override user attributes received from the HR system. This change is made directly in eADM remains in effect until the override is revoked.

Changing Your Account and Identity Information

Certain data points are critical identity identifiers that are essential for logging in and accessing services. These changes require action by your organization's IT department because they can affect your access to multiple systems.

To change the following information, contact your IT department:

  • Username (also known as samAccountName)

  • User Principal Name (UPN)

  • Primary Work or School Email Address

Warning: Attempting to change these identifiers without following the proper procedure may result in a loss of access to digital services, files, and third-party applications. Always contact your IT department.

Procedure for eADM - Overriding Source System Data

This procedure is specific to eADM and can only be performed by authorized administrators.

eADM can override any user attribute received from the HR source system. When an administrator manually changes a user's data in eADM, that change is permanent and will not be overwritten by subsequent synchronizations from the HR system. The override remains in effect until an administrator manually revokes it.

Warning: Overriding data from the source system (HRM) should be done with caution. This creates a deliberate discrepancy between the two systems. Ensure you have a clear internal policy regarding when and why data should be overridden and how these changes are tracked.
