This guide describes the various methods for granting users permissions to access and use the platform.
Overview
Users cannot access the system until they have been assigned at least one permission. New permissions become active for users after the next synchronization cycle is complete.
The procedures described here can be used to manage access to various integrated target systems.
Note: Resetting a password via SMS does not require any specific permissions. It only requires the user to have a mobile number registered in their profile.
Method 1: Manual Assignment for a Single User
Follow these steps to assign permissions to an individual user account.
-
Search for the user and open their profile.
-
Go to the Permissions tab and click the + icon.
-
From the dropdown menu, select the groupingeadm.
-
Select the desired permission level (e.g., Employee, Manager) and the department to which the permission will apply.
-
Repeat the process if you need to assign multiple permissions to different departments.
-
Click Save.
Method 2: Bulk Manual Assignment for Multiple Users
Use this method to assign the same permission to multiple users at once.
-
From the main menu, go to Assign Permissions.
-
Select all the users who need the new permission.
-
Click Continue.
-
Add one or more permissions that you want to assign to the selected users.
-
Click Continue when you are ready to proceed.
-
Review the summary to ensure that the users and permissions are correct.
-
Click Continue again to apply the changes, and wait for the confirmation message.
Warning: With this method, all selected users must be assigned permission for the same department.
Method 3: Automatic Rule-Based Assignment
You can automate permission assignments using access management rules. This is useful for assigning roles based on job titles or departments, such as granting the "Manager" permission to department heads and "Employee" permission to all other staff.
Pre-configuration
Before you begin, you must create the necessary rule sets in the system. For example:
-
A rule that identifies all department heads.
-
A rule that identifies all employees who are not department heads.
Configuration Steps
-
Goto Access Management from the main menu.
-
Select the groupeadm.
-
Click Edit.
-
Under the column labeled " Receives automatic permission," add the rules you created.
-
Click Save to enable automatic assignment.
